Cabins

Climbing wall

- 3 walls – vertical, overhanging and an abseil wall
- Access to purpose built high ropes elements from trap door.
- Problems changed regularly – routes vary to suit different abilities ensuring maximum variety.
- 10m high tower equipped with top ropes and the option to lead routes.

- Climbing with TOPEC approved supervisor only
- Free entry for residential students (on any course)
High ropes Course ( Native Course )

- Situated in stand of Native trees onsite.
- Purpose built facility.
- High ropes course consists of three circuit challenges with flying fox descent – 3 wire bridge, flying kiwi, high traverse, centipede, dangling duo and others under construction.
Low ropes Course

- Low ropes consists of circuits and separate elements.
- Ideal for any age.
- Encourages communication and teamwork.
- Available to hire for visiting groups with TOPEC instructor.
Tail race

- Stream way from Power station that is articially controlled.
- 200m long
- Grade 2 play hole
- Adjacent picnic area.
- Vehicle access along full length.
- Easy access onto Waiwhakaiho river ( grade 2/3 )
- Large eddy to practice your rolling or for flat water / slow moving water group sessions.
- Dedicated kayaks or sit on top kayaks are provided for your use.
- Excellent venue for river safety education
- Tunnels for black water experience
- Great for introduction to rafting
Waiwhakaiho River

- Our river Waiwhakaiho borders our campus .
- Ideal for coaching all kinds of paddling skills
- Home to a variety of wildlife.
- Runs as a grade II / III white water trip that runs through the city of New Plymouth to the Sea.
- An inspirational setting for any kind of outdoor experience.
Swimming Hole

- An inspirational setting for any kind of outdoor experience.
- Swimming hole on the Waiwhakaiho river close to TOPEC
- Supervised by accompanying adults
- A great way to end a hot day of activities.
TOPEC Bridge

- The bridge borders the TOPEC campus and crosses the Waiwhakaiho River
- Ideal place for the memorable TOPEC Bridge Swing
- A venue for abseiling.
- Caving ladder climbing is practiced here.
- Open to the public
- All weather access to the DOC Scenic reserve.
Didymo Cleaning Station
- Open to the public within working day or if pre organised
- Taranaki Regional Council Sponsored water blaster
- Free information available on request
Scenic Reserve
- Acres of dense, beautiful bush right on our doorstep.
- Packed with paths and scenic walks for all residents to enjoy.
- Several permanent orienteering courses
- Site of natural and historic interest.
- Ideal for team development exercises and navigation skills coaching.
- Scene of the infamous mud run!!!!
